Learn By Doing

No responsibility as a parent is more precious than teaching our children to grow in wisdom and in knowledge as they grow in stature and walk towards the plans God has for them. And, during no other years is this more true than the middle school years, when cultivating a strong identity in Christ and establishing healthy life and academic practices are vital.

Gateway Academy’s middle school program consists of children in 6th-8th grades. Middle school is a thrilling and challenging time of transition as students move from the structure of elementary school and begin to prepare for the increased responsibilities of high school. Our 6th-8th grade team recognizes the importance of carefully crafting programs and individualizing instruction to help students flourish academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. Gateway’s middle school curriculum consists of Shurley English, Institute for Excellence in Writing, Mosdos Press Literature, Wordly Wise Vocabulary, Big Ideas Mathematics, Pearson’s My World Social Studies and Apologia’s Exploring with Science. Focusing on language arts skill development, mathematical fluency, technology integration, critical thinking and scientific discovery are priorities for our Gateway middle school years.

Beyond the Books

Academic excellence, Godly standards, and uncompromised Biblical truths are the cornerstones of Gateway Academy middle school. Our faith based teaching philosophy is centered in the Biblical view, to train each child cognitively, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Elective classes each week help students shine in areas of student leadership, missionary cultivation, artistic and visual arts, yearbook, fitness, foreign language and technology. Field trip experiences to Crystal River, Florida (6th grade), Washington DC and Key West (7th & 8th grade) extend expand student learning outside the walls of the classroom and connect real-life applications to classroom instruction.

What Parents are Saying

I am so thankful for the challenging yet developmentally appropriate academics that Gateway provides my daughter. The faith based philosophy and loving environment is unlike any other school I have seen. I believe Gateway is setting my daughter up for the best future.

– Jess Foy

I appreciate all that the staff at Gateway Academy have done to welcome my daughters and make them feel at home. They have made comments about how friendly the other students are at Gateway from the very first day they attended. The teachers were all wonderful about getting them adjusted and caught up in their classes. The students at Gateway were very warm and welcoming to the “new kids.”

– Kevin Wells

Gateway means a tremendous amount to my tiny family of three. It means I can drop my boys at school, and head off to work, knowing they are loved big, safe, and surrounded by edifying people who honestly live to grow them closer to God.
