About Us

Gateway’s Pre K program focuses on nurturing each student’s natural curiosity in a loving and encouraging environment. Hands-on, developmental discovery allows our children to explore, create, and learn while exploring God’s world and building strong friendships. Classes meet five days a week from 8:00am-2:30pm with optional after-school care hours.

With a growing sense of independence from PreK, Kindergarten is a time when students begin to make connections across academic areas. Our K classrooms focus on building strong readers through phonics instruction, on cultivating critical thinking through hands-on mathematics learning, and on instilling a love for writing and science experimentation. Daily Bible learning, P.E. classes, recess, and weekly music, art and Chapel classes round out our K academic program.

At the elementary level, key subject areas such as reading, language arts, and math are the focus of our developmentally challenging curriculum. In 1st – 3rd grades, children begin the process of becoming responsible students who are encouraged to develop good work habits as well as think critically. Special area classes such as daily physical education, art, music, science lab, library, technology, and Spanish complements our strong academic primary program.

The intermediate grades are critical years for transition and growth. Our 4th & 5th grade years are characterized by an emphasis on higher level thinking skills, team study, and organizational skills… all put in place to help prepare our children for academic success in their upcoming middle school years. Our 4th & 5th grade rooms are safe places for students to find what sparks their academic interests while diving deep into specific learning experiences, participating in memory making field trips to our state capital and NASA’s Space Camp and engaging in hands-on project and lively discussions.

Middle school is a thrilling and challenging time as students move from the structure of elementary school and begin to prepare for the increased responsibilities of high school. Our 6th – 8th grade team recognizes the importance of carefully crafting programs and individualizing instruction to help students flourish academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. Students in these middle years take two language arts classes each day, receive differentiated math instruction that allows for the possibility of high school credits, experiment with scientific principles in our science lab, participate in daily Bible study groups, are exposed to foreign language opportunities, physical education activities, and technology instruction. Classroom learning is enhanced through annual science and history trips including Crystal River, Florida, Washington D.C. and Key West.

In order to impact our world and be equipped to fulfill their God-given destiny, students need to see their unique path forward and begin to refine their talents, spiritual gifts and academic abilities to influence society in a positive manner. Gateway Academy’s high school years are committed to providing students with experiences, guidance, instruction and encouragement needed to see their future and grab hold of it. Our curriculum is rigorous, yet attainable. Our teachers are challenging, yet nurturing. Our format is classically inspired, yet individualized to meet each student’s needs.

Through our dual enrollment model, our high school student will have the ability to graduate 12th grade with both their high school diploma and their AA degree… all under the watchful eye of our Gateway staff who will journey with them every step of the way and mentor them on how to be successful in higher level learning and in standing for their faith in today’s world.

School Affiliation & Accreditation

An Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) designation demonstrates the extreme importance that participating schools place on excellence in education and student spiritual development. Gateway Academy, in an effort to honor God through our continual enhancement of the professional and personal spiritual development of our staff and to remain on the cutting edge of our curriculum accomplishments, is proud to be an affiliated member of ACSI.

Accreditation is a process of assessment which ensures that quality standards of educational programming are present in a school organization. Gateway Academy is in the application process of accreditation with the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS), one of only 10 state associations in the U.S. whose accreditation process has been recognized by the NAIS Commission (National Association of Independent Schools). The NAIS is the international authority on independent school accreditation, representing schools in over 100 countries. This national appraisal will serve as a testament that Gateway Academy holds the highest standards and best practices. FCIS accreditation signals to higher education institutions that students with Gateway diplomas can meet the demands of college courses. Graduates from accredited high school are assured that their diplomas will be recognized by both college and employers. We anticipate completion of our FCIS and NAIS accreditation process by the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

Testing and Standards

Monitoring student growth and learning needs is of extreme importance to us here at Gateway Academy. To this end, all of our students, starting in Kindergarten, participate annually in the nationally-normed TerraNova3® Achievement Test. This assessment allows our teachers to administer benchmark testing, monitor growth and identify any specific learning gaps or needs in our student’s development. Administering the TerraNova3® also lets us see the achievement levels of our students in comparison to other students across the nation in both public and other ACSI Christian schools.

Testimonials

What Parents are Saying

I am so thankful for the challenging yet developmentally appropriate academics that Gateway provides my daughter. The faith based philosophy and loving environment is unlike any other school I have seen. I believe Gateway is setting my daughter up for the best future.

– Jess Foy

I appreciate all that the staff at Gateway Academy have done to welcome my daughters and make them feel at home. They have made comments about how friendly the other students are at Gateway from the very first day they attended. The teachers were all wonderful about getting them adjusted and caught up in their classes. The students at Gateway were very warm and welcoming to the “new kids.”

– Kevin Wells

Gateway means a tremendous amount to my tiny family of three. It means I can drop my boys at school, and head off to work, knowing they are loved big, safe, and surrounded by edifying people who honestly live to grow them closer to God.

– Leah Petrey
